Eczema & Dermatitis Treatment

In the UK alone one third of all new born babies have eczema, one fifth of all school age children and one in twelve adults suffer with eczema.

Eczema or Dermatitis is a general term that describes an inflammation of the skin. Although the disorder can have many causes and occur in many forms, it usually involves swollen, reddened and itchy skin. It is a common condition that usually is not life threatening or contagious. But, it can make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious.

When people with eczema/dermatitis swim in the sea every day their eczema/dermatitis clears. Aalgo in a lukewarm bath turns your bath water into sea water, without the stinging effect of the salt, acting as a healer and exfoliater to your skin. On getting out of the bath, there is an invisible residue, which you absorb through your pores thus hydrating the skin from the inside out.

As a treatment for eczema Aalgo relieves the persistent itch, allowing for a better nights sleep, reduces overall redness, and in most cases clears it completely.

Atopic dermatitis: more commonly known as just eczema or atopic eczema, a chronic itchy rash that tends to come and go.

Seborrheic dermatitis: a common scalp and facial condition that often causes dandruff

Contact eczema/dermatitis: a rash that results from either repeated contact with irritants or contact with allergy-producing substances, such as poison ivy

Neurodermatitis: a chronic itchy skin condition localised to certain areas of the skin

Statis dermatitis: a skin condition that's caused by a build up of fluid under the skin of the legs.

Perioral dermatitis: a bumpy rash around the mouth

Dyshidrosis also known as dyshidrotic eczema or pompholyx: comes as tiny bumps called vesicles, thickening of the skin and cracking, it is unbearably itchy and only comes on the hands and feet

Babies & Toddlers

You might think your baby's skin should be flawless, but baby rashes and cradle cap are common

Aalgo is totally safe to use with babies from 4 weeks.

Remember all Aalgo does is turn bath water into the same constituents as sea water without the salt

Aalgo is a natural healer and exfoliater so the skin gradually heals and the dry skin exfoliates away in the bath

Baby eczema is patches of red, scaly, itchy skin. Sometimes the patches ooze and crust over. It can occur when a baby is exposed to irritating substances, such as bubble baths or rough fabrics, it can also be a sympton of a food allergy

To treat and prevent baby eczema, help your baby avoid extreme temperatures and anything that seams to bother his or her skin. Keep the room cool and make sure the baths are on the cool side of luke warm, dry your baby's skin with gentle pats

Atopic Eczema/Dermatitis: Probably the most common usually begins in infancy, frequently with new born babies, and varies in severity throughout childhood and adolescence. It is supposed to become less of a problem in adulthood, but we have noticed a vast increase of it continuing into adulthood in the last ten years.

Treatment:

2 heaped teaspoons of Aalgo in a baby bath

When baby is big enough for a normal bath put 1 tablespoon of Aalgo into the bath

After bath just pat baby dry this allows the invisible residue to be absorbed - hydrating the skin from within

First thing you will notice is the ITCH will GO and the child will SLEEP thus breaking that vicious circle which parents know only too well.

Where the skin has been scratched will heal

Dead/dry skin will exfoliate away

New clear, soft and supple skin will appear

Aalgo bath once a day until eczema has gone, then twice a week for a couple of months. Once a week afterwards for maintenance and any time you feel the slightest dry skin give baby an Aalgo bath that night, teething an Aalgo bath every night. Always have an Aalgo bath after swimming in an indoor swimming pool to counteract the effect of the chlorine.

Cradle Cap: Looks like yellow, crusty or greasy patches on a baby's scalp. It is most common in newborns and will usually clear on its own by the time baby is six months. We suggest using Aalgo soap to wash babies scalp. If after the first week this has not helped, mix a teaspoon of Aalgo to a watery cream - cool to almost cold - put on babies scalp while in the bath, leave on for about 50 seconds, and gently rub off with your hand and the bath water. Do this for 3 or 4 days and then go back to washing with Aalgo soap.

Children over three years old:

Atopic Eczema/Dermatitis: Probably the most common form usually begins in infancy, frequently with new born babies, and varies in severity throughout childhood and adolescence. It is supposed to become less of a problem in adulthood, but we have noticed a vast increase of it continuing into adulthood in the last ten years.

Remember all Aalgo does is turn bath water into the same constituents as sea water without the salt. Aalgo is a natural healer and exfoliater, so the skin gradually heals and the dry skin gently exfoliates away in the bath. Aalgo bath daily until the skin is totally clear.

  • Run a LUKE WARM bath
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of Aalgo into the bath, it will totally dissolve.
  • Let child play in the bath for 20 minutes or longer if they want
  • This way the child will totally relax
  • After the bath just pat them dry, this allows the invisible residue to be absorbed through the pores and re-hydrate the skin from within.
  • Itch will go.
  • Where the skin has been scratched will heal.
  • Dead/dry skin will exfoliate away.
  • New re-hydrated skin will come up eczema free
  • Children will be much more relaxed and less irritable
  • Maintenance for children:

Always use LUKE WARM water if you suffer with eczema 1 to 2 Aalgo baths per week. Any time the child is upset about something bath that night. In our experience talking to parents over the last twenty years that the most stressful things for children are: Moving house bath every day coming up to, during, and after the move for at least a week until everything settles down then stay on 2 baths a week for a month or two. Starting play school (children may seem very excited about it but it can have a dramatic effect on some children) we suggest bathing every night for a few nights before starting play school and for the first 2 weeks at least. Every September going back to school, the start of the school year has proven to be a serious problem. In the run-up to and during exams. Always bath after swimming in an indor swimming pool to counteract the effects of the chlorine.

    Adults:

Atopic Eczema/Dermatitis: We have noticed a vast increase of this in adults in the last ten years.

Neurodermatitis/ Lichen simplex chronicus: This can be very irritating as it develops where one has tight clothing which may rub or scratch; for example at the back of the neck, ankles, wrists, outer fore arm and under the bust. It appears as a rash or redness and is usually very itchy.

    Common signs and symptoms include

  • Itchy skin in a single, limited area
  • Leathery or scaly texture to the skin
  • Raised, rough patch that is red or darker than the rest of your skin
  • Instruction: 2 heaped tablespoons of Aalgo in a LUKE WARM bath. Bath every day (no showers if possible) we are trying to keep the invisible residue of Aalgo on your skin until the problem is clear. If you want to wash your hair have a shower before your bath. Try and have a couple of long Aalgo baths a week, lying back with your neck muscles in the water to totally destress and relax (we hold stress in our bodies as tension in our neck, shoulders and back)

Have an Aalgo bath every day until clear then once a week thereafter

If it is impossible to bath mix some Aalgo with water into a watery cream and apply all over the body leave on for about 5/10 minutes and shower off. Always make sure the shower is at half power and only luke warm.

  • Firstly the dreadful ITCH will ease
  • Anywhere you have scratched raw will heal.
  • The dead and dry skin will naturally and gently exfoliate away and the new skin will appear soft, supple and clear.
  • Maintenence: Always use LUKE WARM WATER. Enjoy having a long relaxing Aalgo bath once a week. If you feel the slightest dry skin, have a bath that night. If you have a stressfull day bath that night and get your neck muscles in the water. Always have an Aalgo bath after swimming in an indoor pool to counter the effects of the chlorine

Statis Dermatitis/Eczema: Affects the lower leg where fluid build up in the tissue beneath the skin interferes with the bloods ability to nourish the skin thus placing extra pressure on the skin from within. It occurs when varicose veins or other circulatory conditions cause fluids to build up in the lower legs. This causes the skin at your ankles and shins to become discoloured, thick and itchy.

    Common signs and symptoms include

  • Skin discolouration - red or brown - on the ankles or shins
  • Itching and redness
  • Thickened skin
  • Open sores or ulcers
  • Instructions: Use a deep basin or bucket fill with LUKE WARM WATER and 1/2 tablespoons of Aalgo sit with you legs and feet in this for about half and hour then pat the skin dry and sit with your legs up. Put your moisturisers on about an hour later this will give the invisible residue of Aalgo time to be absorbed. Do this daily.

Hands & Feet Eczema / Dermatitis:

    • One heaped tablespoon of Aalgo into an electric foot spa, this will double its effectiveness.
    • One heaped tablespoon of Aalgo into a basin of water turns it into a hand/foot spa.
    • Soak hands/feet for a minimum of 20 minutes daily until problem solved.
    • Make sure the water is only LUKE WARM

After your spa pat dry with a towel and do not cover the area until the next day as this will allow the air at your hands/feet and give the seaweed a chance to be absorbed through the pores and rehydrate the skin from the inside out.

Have a spa daily until totally clear then twice weekly to keep clear.

When showering, always have a basin with enough water and some Aalgo dissolved in it out side the shower for you to step into after the shower - this will remove all the residue of shampoos, shower gels, soap etc that are in the foot well of the shower and prevent your feet from healing. If there was no residue we wouldn't have to clean our showers

    Dyshidrosis:

Dyshidrosis, also known as dyshidrotic eczema or pompholyx is part of the eczema/dermatitis family, only affecting the palms of the hands and fingers, and soles of the feet, heels and toes. It comes as tiny bumps called vesicles, thickening of the skin and cracking or splitting, and is unbearably itchy.

This has increased beyond belief within the last six years - we find at exhibitions that about 1 in 3 of everyone we speak to suffers with this problem.

For the hands (get some decorating plastic gloves or the ones used at petrol pumps for dispensing diesel) mix aalgo to a paste pore into the gloves only half filling them put your hands into the gloves this way you will get the paste all over your fingers and hands, sit like this for about 20 minutes before going to bed(while on in a paste it is acting as a healer and an exfoliater to get rid of all the dead dry chapped skin) then rinse your hands in a basin of LUKE WARM water (not under the tap) this way the water will be brown but your hands will be clean, just pat dry - there will be an invisible residue left on your hands which you will absorb through your pores during the night and this will hydrate the skin from the inside out. Repeat this daily until the hands are 100% clear.

For the feet mix Aalgo to a paste apply at blood temperature to the soles of the feet and all around the heals, cover loosely with cling film, put on socks leave on over night. In the morning rinse your feet in a basin of LUKE WARM water and rub the area with your hands, pat dry. IF YOU ARE A DIABETIC do NOT leave on OVERNIGHT only leave on for about half an hour and then rinse off in a basin of water,

If the problem is on both hands and feet after three days just bath daily with 2 heaped tablespoons of Aalgo in a luke warm bath - do this in the evening so that the feet are not going back into socks or shoes until the next day, and the hands are not going back into water until the next day.

Continue having an Aalgo bath daily until totally clear - then 1-2 baths per week to keep clear.
